BMW G99 M5 Touring Arrives at IND Distribution – First Look

Ever since the E61 M5 Touring, the IND team has dreamed of owning a true M5 wagon. With the launch of the all-new BMW G99 M5 Touring for the North American market, that dream has finally become a reality. As soon as the model was announced, we secured one of the very first allocations—and this week, it officially arrived. Our Storm Bay Metallic G99 was delivered by our friends at BMW of Crystal Lake, right here in Illinois. We chose Storm Bay to match our existing G90 M5 sedan, creating a unified, high-impact pairing for the upcoming BMW show season. Both cars feature BMW Carbon Ceramic Brakes and red/black two-tone interiors, offering the perfect blend of performance and presence. Although both M5s share the same factory paint color, the G90 has been wrapped in XPEL Stealth film, giving it a frozen matte interpretation of Storm Bay. This allows us to showcase both finishes side-by-side gloss and satin so customers can better visualize how the color transforms with different surface treatments.
With a fully developed G90 parts catalog already in place, our focus now shifts to the G99. Having both platforms in-house means our team can test fitments, evaluate road behavior, and confirm real-world compatibility before offering any product to our customers. At IND, we don’t list parts based on guesswork we live with these cars, drive them, and test every component ourselves. It’s this level of hands-on experience that informs our recommendations and earns customer trust.
From Delivery to PDI: Full Access
We arrived just in time to document the PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection) as the G99 rolled off the truck. Thanks to our close relationship with BMW of Crystal Lake, we were able to observe and capture the entire process from start to finish. The technician wasted no time getting the new Touring on the lift, removing protective shipping materials, pulling the often-overlooked shipping blocks from the suspension, checking tire pressures, and completing software updates. The very first wash will, of course, happen here at IND and that’s something we’ll be sharing in detail soon.
