The Supersprint Stainless Steel Exhaust Manifold for BMW E39 M5, E39 540i, and E38 740i (LHD) is one of the most effective upgrades available for unlocking additional horsepower and torque from BMW’s V8 platforms.
The factory exhaust manifolds on the E39 540i and E39 M5 were designed primarily for emissions compliance and mass production efficiency, not maximum performance. On later models, the primary catalytic converters are integrated directly into the OEM manifolds, further restricting exhaust flow. These limitations make the factory setup an ideal candidate for improvement.
Supersprint exhaust headers are engineered as a direct replacement for the factory manifolds on 1997–2003 BMW E39 540i and E39 M5 models. Featuring a fully tubular design with precision merge collectors, these headers significantly improve exhaust scavenging and flow efficiency. When paired with Supersprint sport catalytic converters, real-world testing has shown gains of up to 30 horsepower at the wheels on an otherwise stock E39 M5.
Beyond the measurable performance gains, Supersprint headers are known for their exceptional fitment and build quality. Each set is designed and manufactured in Italy using premium materials, ensuring proper clearance, long-term durability, and consistent results across all compatible vehicles.
Founded in 1955, Supersprint has built its reputation by engineering complete exhaust solutions rather than individual components. Every system is developed to deliver the optimal balance of performance, sound quality, and reliability, making Supersprint a trusted choice for BMW Motorsport engines worldwide.
