Ohlins 911 carrera 996 coilover suspension road track - iND Distribution

The Öhlins Road & Track Coilover Suspension for the Porsche 911 Carrera (996) is engineered to deliver a precise balance between track-focused performance and everyday drivability. Built around Öhlins' Dual Flow Valve (DFV) technology, this system provides exceptional control over both compression and rebound damping, allowing the suspension to react quickly to changing road and track conditions while maintaining consistent tire contact.

Unlike conventional damper designs, the DFV system allows fluid to flow efficiently in both compression and rebound phases. At low shaft speeds, fluid passes through the bleed circuit for controlled damping. As shaft speed increases, flow transitions through the piston ports, and under high load or sudden impacts, the DFV opens to allow additional flow. This results in improved bump absorption, increased traction, and reduced harshness without sacrificing responsiveness.

One of the key advantages of the Öhlins design is its ability to maintain consistent damping characteristics under heat. As damper temperatures rise, fluid viscosity can change, but Öhlins compensates using a temperature-reactive needle bleed valve which adjusts flow accordingly. This ensures predictable handling and repeatable performance, even during extended track sessions.

Ride height adjustment is handled independently from spring preload through a threaded lower mount design. This allows precise height changes without altering spring characteristics or reducing suspension travel, preserving the engineered balance of the system.
