AST Suspension and MOTON are developed and manufactured in the Netherlands with a strong motorsport heritage that includes endurance racing, Nürburgring competition, and professional motorsport programs. KW Suspension is one of the most recognized names in performance suspension, offering everything from street-focused coilovers to Nürburgring-tested Clubsport systems. Öhlins brings decades of racing technology and advanced suspension engineering to both street and track vehicles. BMW M Performance and HKS complete the lineup with vehicle-specific solutions engineered for enthusiasts seeking factory-backed or motorsport-inspired suspension upgrades.

Coilovers vs Lowering Springs

One of the most common questions enthusiasts ask when upgrading their suspension is whether to choose lowering springs or a complete coilover suspension system. Both options improve appearance and handling, but each serves a different purpose depending on the vehicle's intended use and performance goals.

Lowering springs are a cost-effective solution that replaces the factory springs while retaining the factory dampers. They reduce wheel gap, lower the vehicle's center of gravity, and improve handling characteristics without significantly altering the factory suspension design.

Coilover suspension systems offer a more comprehensive upgrade by replacing both the spring and damper assembly. Most coilovers provide adjustable ride height, while many also offer compression and rebound adjustments. This allows enthusiasts to fine-tune suspension performance for street driving, canyon roads, autocross events, HPDE track days, and dedicated motorsport use.

For drivers seeking maximum adjustability, improved chassis control, and the ability to tailor suspension settings to their driving style, coilovers are typically the preferred solution. For owners primarily focused on appearance and maintaining factory-like comfort, lowering springs remain an excellent choice.
