IND Auratium Green BMW G87 M2 Portfolio Build
Ryan Morgan September 04, 2025
Portfolio builds are part of IND’s DNA. Back in the E9X M3 days, these projects defined how we work and why we exist. The difference has always been in the details you might miss at first glance but feel every time you drive. That mindset still guides us.
Our G87 M2 started life in factory Zandvoort Blue. We put real miles on it, cycled parts on and off the car, and sent feedback to the manufacturers we work with daily. We wanted to know the platform before committing to a full build. Once we did, it was time to elevate the car into a true portfolio project and finish it in Auratium Green.
This color marks a turning point for the car and for our team. Day-to-day operations at IND have grown as we support some of the best brands in the industry, and portfolio projects naturally took a back seat. Taking on something this involved pushes everyone here, and it also reminds us exactly how we got here and what IND stands for. Projects like this re-center the staff, especially newer team members, on the company’s DNA: OEM-plus fitment, precise paintwork, clean carbon integration, thoughtful hardware, and finish quality that holds up under harsh light and close inspection. Nothing is added without purpose. Nothing is left to chance.
Before we pulled the M2 apart for a full respray, we had to choose the color, the decision that sets the tone for everything that follows. We left the HQ for the weekend and reviewed every reference we could find, past to present. Since this was a complete repaint, the manufacturer wasn’t a constraint. When we regrouped the following week and something rare happened: without comparing notes, Ryan Overby and Ryan Morgan had both landed on the same Porsche color. Out of countless options, they matched on Auratium Green. That settled it. With the most important choice made, we moved on to the parts catalog and assigned tasks across each department. The goal is the same as it has always been: a cohesive, factory-correct feel, just sharper.

It wouldn’t be a portfolio project without some one-off custom items. Once the color was locked in, we reached out to Bilal at Eventuri. For a build this rare, we needed an intake and engine cover that matched its uniqueness. Even though Bilal is like family to us at IND, he was understandably hesitant. The G8X intake system is one of Eventuri’s most sought-after products, and keeping them in stock is already a challenge. On top of that, we were asking for a one-off finish in Yellow Kevlar. The result is something that will remain exclusive to this project. The Yellow Kevlar intake and engine cover will never be offered for sale, making this a true one-of-one. Against the Auratium Green paint, the Kevlar weave pops with an aggressive contrast and sets the tone for the entire engine bay. We completed the Eventuri package with a gloss carbon strut brace and gloss carbon intake scoops, which stand out just behind the satin-clear Alpha-N carbon front grille.
From there, we layered in components that combine performance with a cohesive aesthetic. IND’s partners at Indiv supplied a satin-clear dry carbon cooling shroud and ECU cover. For power, we turned to MMX Performance and their G87 M2 Power Control Module. After visiting the MMX team in the UK earlier this year, and seeing firsthand the amount of in-house R&D and dyno testing that goes into the PCM, the choice was clear. The goal was to give the S58 added power while retaining factory drivability, and MMX delivered exactly that. The MMX package continued with their aerospace-grade 6061 billet replacements: Oil Filter Housing Cap & Filter, Fuel Cap, Oil Cap, Coolant Cap, and Oil Drain Plug. Each replaces the factory plastic piece with precision-machined billet aluminum. To keep temperatures consistent under higher loads, we worked with Ravi and the CSF team on their S58 Cooling Package, which includes a Charge-Air Cooler Manifold, Engine Oil Cooler with Rock Guard, High-Performance Front Mount Heat Exchanger, and High-Performance Auxiliary Radiator. To tie everything together visually, we finished the engine bay with a Downstar G8X Titanium Billet Hardware Kit, each bolt refinished in Cerakote Black, a process that alone took three days. A Goldenwrench Blackline Washer Fluid Cap, also finished in Cerakote Black, rounded out the details and ensured the entire package felt intentional.
To accentuate the bold color choice, we converted every gloss carbon component on the exterior to satin (matte) clear. Each part was hand-sanded and resprayed with a frozen matte clear coat, a process far more demanding than it might sound. Unlike gloss clear, which can be corrected after application, satin clear must be completely redone if any contamination is found. That meant every component went through meticulous hand inspections, and if even the slightest dust or imperfection appeared during QC, the part was sent back for refinishing. This process repeated over the course of two weeks until every piece met our standards. The results justified the effort. Once installed, the satin carbon contrasted sharply with the Auratium Green paint, adding the aggressive edge we wanted while bringing out the depth and detail of the carbon weave. For aero, we relied on leaders in the field: Alpha-N in Germany, known for their in-house prepreg carbon production, and 3D Design in Japan. Even though components came from different manufacturers, we maintained a consistent 2x2 weave and unified design language throughout the build.
One of the toughest challenges involved adapting the BMW Motorsport M4 GT3 EVO mirrors. Originally designed only for the GT3 EVO race car, they were never intended to fit the G87 M2. To make them work, we fabricated custom mounts and even redesigned the window moldings, since the mirrors could not integrate with factory trim. Once the engineering was complete, the mirrors were refinished to match the theme: satin clear carbon with Auratium Green caps. To complete the look, the factory BMW carbon roof was wrapped in Xpel Stealth PPF, tying together every satin carbon element across the exterior.
When it came to wheels and suspension, the choice was clear given the history of our portfolio projects: BBS and KW. Years ago, during a tour of BBS in Germany, we had the opportunity to see an early concept of what would later become the FI-R EVO. At that point, the wheel did not even have a name, we only knew it was the next evolution of the legendary BBS FI. An engineer walked us through the design process, explaining how pockets of material were removed from the spokes to shed weight without sacrificing strength. Seeing the CAD models in person and understanding the engineering behind them made it clear that this was something special. BBS remains one of the few manufacturers in the world to X-ray its wheels, verifying the grain structure of the material for unmatched strength and consistency.
With the Porsche GT-inspired direction of this M2 build, the FI-R EVO was the natural fit. We selected a bold Citrine Gold finish to contrast against the Auratium Green paint, paired with Michelin Cup 2R tires to maximize performance. To take things a step further, we added custom BBS floating center caps painted in Auratium Green. Creating them required disassembling the base caps, sending them out for color-matching, and then integrating the painted pieces into a new set of BBS floating center caps. The result is a one-off detail that ties the entire wheel setup back to the body color.
To complement the wheels, we drew from Fall-Line’s extensive suspension catalog, replacing the factory rubber components with spherical bearings to achieve sharper precision and long-term durability. For coilovers, KW was the natural choice. The V4 Clubsport kit brings three-way adjustability from motorsport, offering independent control over rebound, low-speed compression, and high-speed compression. With 16 clicks of rebound, 14 clicks of high-speed compression, and 6 clicks of low-speed compression, the V4 allows precise fine-tuning for both street and track conditions. Developed and validated on KW’s 7-post rig and further refined at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, the system strikes the perfect balance between real-world usability and race-bred performance that a portfolio build demands.
With wheels, tires, and suspension complete, attention turned to stopping power, which is one of the most important elements of any high-performance M car. For this, we added the MMX Performance G8X 2-Piece Floating CCB Kit paired with Pagid pads, ensuring braking performance matched the rest of the chassis upgrades.
When it comes to details, the interior is just as important as the exterior. The goal was to carry the character of the project inside the cabin while maintaining consistent design cues. Drawing inspiration from classic and modern Porsche elements, we selected Recaro Podium carbon fiber seats trimmed with Tartan upholstery inserts. To complement the material choice, we added a custom Tartan plaid shift boot and paired it with a 917-style wood shift knob mounted to a Rogue Engineering short shift kit.
An Alpha-N Clubsport Rollcage, painted in Auratium Green, was installed along with Schroth 6-Point Racing Harnesses to emphasize motorsport functionality. To maintain an OEM+ feel, as if the car could have been optioned this way from the factory, we integrated an RKP G87 Rear Closeout Kit. This piece cleans up the appearance of the cabin when running a rear seat delete with the roll bar. Staying true to the Euro theme, we also fitted European-market BMW sun visors that delete the U.S.-mandated DOT warning stickers, giving the interior a cleaner and more cohesive look.
The steering system is centered around the MadTrace G-Chassis Racing Steering Wheel System V2, which introduces a wireless racing solution unlike anything else available. By eliminating complex wiring and unnecessary modules, the wheel is designed as a true plug-and-play system with no fault codes. Each component is CNC-machined from hard-anodized billet aluminum, ensuring maximum durability under the harshest conditions. Unlike other systems that rely heavily on the factory control module, MadTrace decodes the factory microcontroller to communicate directly with the vehicle’s DME, eliminating complicated setup processes. At the core is an in-house developed integrated circuit board that ensures full compatibility with OEM multifunctions while leaving room for future expandability.
With the exterior and interior complete, it was time to bring the S58’s sound to life. A German car deserves a German exhaust, and there is no better choice than Eisenmann. Handcrafting performance exhaust systems in Germany for more than three decades, Eisenmann also produces for major OEM manufacturers, ensuring both quality and heritage. For this build, we installed their G87 M2 performance exhaust paired with center pipes to unlock the full character of the S58. The exhaust canister and inner tips were finished in high-temperature Cerakote Black, while the large outer carbon tips received a satin matte coating to complement the rest of the matte carbon accents on the car.
With our G87 M2 loaded up and headed to Los Angeles for Bimmer Invasion LA, the new build will make its first appearance at Invasion Industry Night presented by CSF on September 4th. The full unveiling will be hosted by our close friend Imran from Evolve Performance and Eventuri. For those attending, the first public reveal will take place on Saturday, September 6th, at Bimmer Invasion LA.
