How do you take one of the best modified BMW E90 M3 builds in the country and improve it further without going too far? That was the challenge facing the IND team when Felix’s Dakar Yellow BMW Individual M3 arrived at our facility.
Even after seeing countless photos of the car online and previously supplying many of the parts already installed, the car still made an immediate impression when it rolled off the transport truck. Felix had already created an incredibly well-balanced build with exceptional attention to detail, blending performance, functionality, and aesthetics into one cohesive package.
The challenge for IND was not reinventing the car. The challenge was refining it further without diluting the identity that made it so special in the first place.

Our approach centered around refining the details throughout the exterior, engine bay, and interior with the goal of elevating the car from already exceptional to truly world-class.
The exterior already featured an impressive collection of components including:
- BBS FI wheels
- Brembo brakes
- Vorsteiner GTS-V front lip
- Varis rear diffuser
- 3D Design rear components
- IND E90 carbon roof conversion
To further complement the aggressive motorsport-inspired appearance, IND installed original carbon fiber BMW Motorsport mirrors sourced directly from the factory racing program. Combined with the carbon roof and rear aero components, the mirrors became one of the defining exterior details of the build.

With the primary exterior package already dialed in, IND shifted focus toward the smaller details that often separate a good build from a truly complete one.
Hundreds of subtle refinements were addressed throughout the car:
- Gloss black painted diffuser fasteners
- Gloss black engine bay hardware
- Gloss black speaker surrounds
- Custom painted engine components
- Refinished trim elements
No detail was overlooked.
The engine bay received a comprehensive redesign featuring:
- Dinan carbon fiber strut bars
- Textured black powder coated valve covers
- Dakar Yellow ignition coil covers
- Painted ESS supercharger components
- Lamborghini Grigio Estoque painted ESS intake manifold with IND pearl finish
The result was an engine bay that looked both exotic and factory-inspired at the same time.

While the exterior and engine bay refinements were significant, the interior became the true centerpiece of the project.
The BMW Performance seats were fully disassembled and re-stitched using Dakar Yellow thread around the seat perimeter and BMW Performance logos. The seat backs were refinished in gloss black with yellow metallic flake designed to complement the custom IND-painted interior trim already installed in the car.
To maintain a factory BMW Individual appearance, additional trim elements were refinished in simpler gloss black finishes to keep the overall presentation subtle and cohesive.

The dashboard was removed and reupholstered in black leather to create a cleaner OEM+ appearance. To complement the headliner, the upper door panel sections were refinished in Alcantara while the lower sections retained factory leather for durability and long-term usability.
A genuine BMW M3 GTS center armrest was sourced directly from Germany, helping tie the interior together with subtle factory motorsport influences.
The focal point of the cabin became the custom welded roll bar fabricated by Fall Line Motorsports and painted in Dakar Yellow by IND. A custom rear closeout panel was designed to resemble the BMW M3 GTS layout as closely as possible while adapting it for the E90 sedan chassis.
The finishing touch may have been the simplest: yellow seat belts installed in the front cabin that perfectly tied the entire theme together.

Over the course of roughly six weeks, IND refined nearly every aspect of the car while preserving the personality that made the build so memorable from the start.
Rather than overwhelming the car with unnecessary additions, the focus remained on enhancing what was already there through better materials, improved finishes, and more thoughtful execution.
The final result became one of the most recognizable Dakar Yellow E90 M3 builds in the United States and a defining IND Portfolio Project from the E9X era.
