The market for factory replacement exhaust tips is flooded with options, many of which fall short in fitment or finish. From poor-quality overseas products to universal designs that try to fit everything but end up fitting nothing, it's easy for BMW owners to get overwhelmed. That’s where 3D Design stands apart.
Founded in Japan in 1998, 3D Design has built a reputation for engineering premium BMW and MINI components with factory-level precision and a commitment to quality. Their latest removable exhaust tips for the G8X M2/M3/M4 and G9X M5 reflect this philosophy perfectly. Unlike many one-size-fits-all solutions, 3D Design carefully accounted for the different tip clocking between the G8X and G9X platforms. With in-house access to both chassis, they test-fitted and refined their tips to ensure proper alignment and a true OEM+ experience.
Manufactured in Japan and imported to North America, these tips are available in two premium finishes: gloss carbon fiber with a stainless inner tip, and full brushed matte stainless steel. Both are designed to mount directly to the OEM muffler or the 3D Design rear exhaust system. We recently tested both variants on our in-house G99 M5 Touring. While the factory gloss black tips aren’t bad, they blend into the diffuser. The 3D Design tips, especially the carbon version, bring the rear of the car to life. Paired with our Alpha-N V2 carbon diffuser, the weave alignment is spot-on creating a clean, aggressive finish worthy of the G99 M5.
